A trolling motor that with 70-74 pounds of thrust can be compared to 1 horsepower electrical power. 12V, 24V batteries are mostly preferred for trolling motors. The amp hour rating becomes very important while choosing a battery. If your trolling motor is running constantly for more than two hours and that too at high speed, then you will require a battery. The battery usually has an amp hour that rates 100 Ah to 120 Ah. On the other hand, if your speed remains low consuming around 4amps than a battery that has an amp hour rating about 50 to 100 Ah will do.
